The Sydney Flamenco Studio is a professional flamenco dance school founded by Chachy Peñalver. Based in Sydney, the studio teaches all levels and ages following Flamenco traditions as main pillars, but also incorporating a contemporary approach, giving a fresher, more dynamic and modern feel.

The Sydney Flamenco Studio annually partners with renown international and local flamenco dancers and musicians to host workshops and live performances available to the community.

Chachy Peñalver has devoted most of her life to dance, moving through different disciplines from the age of seven (Contemporary Dance, Ballet, Flamenco and Latin-American Folklore). Her studies have been developed in both Venezuela and Spain for more than 12 years, earning her a scholarship in the prestigious CDFCBF (Ciclo Dedicado a la Formación Completa del Baile

Flamenco) at ‘Amor de Dios’, Madrid (2013). She has been part of international companies like Siudy Garrido’s Company and ‘Venezuela Viva Company’, with whom she served for more than six years as a Soloist and Lead dancer. In the 16 years of her professional career, Chachy has performed in prominent theatres in Mexico, Colombia, USA, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Spain. Today she is living in Sydney and teaches audiences of all ages.

Arrebato Ensemble is a diverse group of talented musicians who have worked together to develop original music with contemporary flamenco as the compositional and rhythmic driving force. This collaboration has created a passionately moving style of music with an intensely international flavour and appeal to many audiences from the flamenco aficionado to jazz and world music fans.

Their recordings and performances have received significant critical acclaim across the board . Prominent Music Critic and Reviewer, John Shand wrote in the Sydney Morning Herald that their music “moves from pure flamenco in favour of a more contemporary style, the spirit, a dramatic, sexually charged and haughty sadness remains intact.” The Ensemble was voted Best World Music Artist at the 2008 MusicOz Awards.

Their self-titled first album and second album “Absoluciòn” are available now from iTunes and from their website.
